Middle West Spirits has successfully completed the expansion of its distillery located on Courtland Avenue in the Short North District of Columbus, Ohio, making it one of the largest independent distilleries in North America. The property expansion has augmented the distillation capacity by tenfold, enabling the company to cater to the increasing demand for its products and further develop its in-house Custom Distilling Partnership Program.
Presently, Middle West Spirits manufactures fifteen branded products, including MIDDLE WEST Bourbon, Rye, and Wheat Whiskey, the super-premium Double Cask Whiskey Collection, OYO vodkas, Vim & Petal and Lux & Umbra gins. However, the company has now increased its operational capacity by establishing a state-of-the-art 75,000-square-foot distillery alongside grain processing and bottling facilities.
Furthermore, the brand operates a partnership program in collaboration with other companies such as Horse Soldier and Old Line Spirits to create distinctive products. The distillery’s expansion now allows it to offer new partners services such as grain sourcing and processing, state-of-the-art distillation, bottling and blending, barrel maturation, and storage of finished goods, including aged, barreled, and bulk whiskey for fulfillment. The strong partnerships already built with farmers ensures all partners, old and new, will have access to high-quality, non-GMO grains, coupled with the distillation facilities and expertise that uniquely position Middle West Spirits to support its partners in growth and innovation with fully customizable capabilities.

The distillery expansion has also delivered economic advantages to the east side of Columbus, contributing to the reuse and enhancement of land and existing structures. The employee base has tripled, with further additions anticipated in 2024. Additionally, the management of over 25,000 acres of local grain farmland and the generation of additional revenue for the Bexley community have resulted in notable outcomes of the expansion.
